The “OG” Thread Box - and inspiration

If you read the “Origin Story” post, you may be wondering why I even decided to write an app. Besides being in an emotional slump after a hard personal loss (my job, not a person), there really was a need that I thought I might be able to fill: a digital solution for managing all the thread I have.

Now, I’m not a “hardcore” stitcher that may have hundreds of threads of varying types/brands in storage, but I am an avid one who (pre-baby) had at least one in-progress project and about two or three more in the backlog. Keeping track of what I had on-hand and what I needed to by became a pain-point for me.

The spreadsheet worked for me - sort of. It was a pain to update every single time I bought thread and it was difficult to maintain when I started/completed a project. While I -technically - had access to it on my phone, it still caused a lot of friction.

So the first piece of my new app was to take this spreadsheet and convert it into a list in an app that I can easily manage and update. This is the Thread Box portion of the Thread Stash app.
