In January 2020, I found myself unemployed unexpectedly, very pregnant, and in need of a purpose. In February 2020, I gave birth to my son as well as an idea to create an app to organize all my cross stitch supplies. Despite life circumstances, not to mention a global pandemic and being a new mom, I was able to create something that I was proud of: Thread Stash.
In 2020, it began as an Android app and later in 2021, I created a web version to fill in the gaps so that iOS users could also experience Thread Stash, albeit in a slightly different format.
The thing about technology is that it's always changing. The framework on which the Android app was built, Xamarin, was retired earlier this year. Due to Xamarin reaching its end of life, I can no longer publish updates to the Google Play Store, which means that in August, it will no longer be available to download as a new user; if you have installed it, it will still work, but will not be eligible for updates.
These past few years, I have prioritized my career and my family, and Thread Stash has taken the back seat — and this isn't changing, per se. However, the primary platform for the foreseeable future will be via the web browser.
Thread-Stash.app will still be available and supported; and I will be continue to be available to troubleshoot and support the Thread Stash community.
If you've made it this far, I hope you continue to use Thread Stash and share it with the cross stitch community. I'm consistently blown away with all the tags and comments and support I've received over the past few years.
My priorities have shifted over the years (as is expected with a young family), but I am so thankful for the community and I am here to continue to help my fellow stitchers stay organized! Keep calm and stitch on.
❤️ Nikki
