This Is Fine

One of my favorite memes to throw out during a stressful time is the famous “This Is Fine” dog. In fact, for Halloween 2018, I dressed up as the famous meme himself.

And during the year of 2020, between international conflicts, the COVID-19 health pandemic, economic crashing-and-burning, and now “murder hornets”, the sentiment seems more relevant than ever…

For this particular stitch, I took a different approach to creating it. I saw someone on Instagram create their stitch in blocks and then post them in their stories, so that when you watched them all, you saw the piece come together block by block. I thought it was the COOLEST thing, so I decided to try it for this stitch as well.

Depending on the pattern, I typically stitch with one color at a time or focus on one element for expediency, but with this one, I am willing to go more slowly to have some fun progress shots.

When I have projects that I am excited about, I tend to throw myself into them, but swapping threads and then stopping to take pictures really slowed me down and made me lose a lot of momentum. It took me over 30 hours total to complete this. I think if I had used my “normal” method, it only would’ve taken me about 12-14 hours. I had a lot of fun stitching this one and I absolutely love the time lapse animation that it created. I don’t know that I will do this again (at least not for a while), but it was a good change of pace.

Not stitch related, but in the spirit of Halloween costumes, what has been your favorite Halloween costume??
